Initial Situation

As an alternative to the current configuration process and the SAP GUI configuration interface, msg systems ag has developed a SAPUI5-based interface and user interface that uses the data from the SAP Backend.

The application combines a user-friendly configuration interface while using the configuration models in SAP. The maintenance of the product presentation for e.g., graphical and textual additional information or the presentation form of characteristics and characteristic values is done via a modern web-based maintenance application, without additional development effort.

Among other things, msg.Variant CoFE (Configuration Frontend) offers the following possibilities:

  • Use of configuration models in SAP

  • No additional configuration logic required

  • Support of the configuration by context-related graphical and textual additional information

  • Price determination in the configurator

  • Reuse of existing configurations

  • Various display variants of the configuration interface integrated as standard

  • Individual display forms of characteristics and characteristic values

This document describes how to maintain the data for the new interface in order to configure a configurable material in the msg.Variant CoFE. The settings require basic knowledge of SAP variant configuration.
